Mail Rules!
With all the focus on the Web, it's easy to overlook the power of email. Yet email is how the Net communicates. When you run a mailing list, you create a forum between people of common interests. This is a benefit to any organization and ListSTAR makes it easy.
Email Discussion Lists
This is the most common type of list. Users can subscribe and unsubscribe themselves to a list on a specific topic and messages to the list are reflected to all the current subscribers. A good example of this is the ListSTAR-Talk list. It's a way for hundreds of ListSTAR listmasters to share their questions and advice with their peers.
Newsletters by Email
Here's a simple way to send newsletters by email. You can allow users to automatically subscribe by email but in this case their messages are not reflected to the group. Almost every organization needs to send newsletters, and using ListSTAR makes it easy and economical to do it with email - think of the paper you'll save.
Email On Demand
ListSTAR can also be used as an automated response system similar to fax-on-demand. Users are sent a menu of available choices, and can request specific messages (including enclosures) just by sending a message using the keywords. You can publish anything from a class schedules to a price list, including Adobe Acrobat PDF documents.
